SOS Beacon is a free app that lets you ask people near you, your family group, and your chosen emergency contacts for help. It is not a replacement for calling 911 or your local emergency number. This policy explains what the app collects, why, who sees it, and how to delete it.
| Information | Why | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Your Google account sign-in (name and email address) | To create your account and keep the network to real people | Only the app's administrator (for account problems) |
| The display name you choose | Shown on your alerts so people know who needs help | People who receive your alerts; your family group |
| Birth month and year | SOS Beacon is for ages 13 and older; teen accounts (13-17) are marked as such | Only you (and the administrator) |
| Precise location, when you send an alert | So responders can find you | Signed-in users within about 5 miles, your family group |
| Last known location while signed in | So your family group can see where you are in an emergency | Only you and your family group |
| What you write on an alert (emergency type, notes) | To describe what help you need | The same people who receive the alert |
| Responses ("I can help", "I've arrived") and your display name | So the person in trouble knows help is coming | The person who sent the alert, and others viewing it |
| Reports you send about an alert (the reason and an optional note) | So prank, abusive or fake alerts can be reviewed and removed | Only the app's administrator; the person you reported is never told who reported them |
| The list of people you've blocked | So their alerts stop showing on your phone | Only you (and the administrator) |
We do not sell or rent your information, show ads, or share it with advertisers or data brokers. Your data is stored with Google Firebase (Google LLC), which runs the app's sign-in and database. We may disclose information if required by law.
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest by Google Firebase. Database security rules limit each piece of information to the people listed above.
Alerts stay until you end them or delete your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app: Home → Delete my account. That permanently deletes your profile, all your alerts, your family-group membership, your blocked list, the emergency contacts and medical info on that phone, and your sign-in account. Reports you sent about other people's alerts are kept for the administrator's safety review. If you no longer have the app, see how to request deletion.
SOS Beacon is not for children under 13, and accounts cannot be created by anyone who says they are under 13.
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the app will show you the new terms before you continue.
